So, I'm now blogging for a large Canadian media conglomerate

Last month, a kind soul and devoted reader took the time to point out to me that Sympatico.ca was looking to fill the position of 'Travel deal blogger' for the Travel section of their giant web portal.
This is the actual ad that they posted on various job sites:
Needed: Engaging travel blogger obsessed with finding great travel deals Are you a seasoned travel writer who has globetrotting down to an art form? Sympatico.ca Travel is looking for a blogger who loves to travel, write about travel and scour the internet and other sources for the best travel deals around. In other words, you eat, sleep and breathe travel.
Check, check, and check. They were asking people to submit their resumes, but perhaps with a bit too much bravado I decided to just send them a short and polite e-mail, explaining who I was, showing them the deals I've found over the past year on my network of blogs, and the following I have on Facebook and Twitter.
To be honest, I felt confident there wasn't anyone in Canada better suited for the job. If there's someone with more of a passion for it than me, they're hiding it pretty well. Sympatico quickly called me back and I'm pretty sure I heard the distinct sound of a pile of resumes being shredded in the background.
So, I'm pretty excited about it. It helps to spread the word to more Canadians, and who knows, maybe it will lead to further opportunities. If I have the conglomerate corporate structure figured out correctly, Sympatico is owned by Bell, who also owns the Globe & Mail and CTV. Hint, hint.
Basically I'll just be posting deals similar to what's currently being posted on my blogs, but they will now also appear on Sympatico's new travel blog, found here:
http://blog.travel.sympatico.ca/
But for my first post, I decided to make it more of an introduction, explaining who I am, how it all began, and how I came to be Canada's deal obsessed travel junkie with a couple hundred thousand Facebook followers.
So here it is, my introductory blog post, simply titled:
Confessions of a Canadian Travel Deal Junkie
Do me a favor and post a comment after you read it. Or at the very least, hit the Like button!
And YES, I will still be posting the deals here of course, as usual. It doesn't really change anything, I'll just be posting on both sites.
