United Airlines and Air Canada have dropped the price of their flights from Edmonton to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Dallas, Texas down to $245 CAD roundtrip including taxes.
The flights have 1 stop each way in Toronto or Denver. (Edmonton does not have nonstop flights to Philadelphia or Dallas).
Really the only semi desirable dates to Philadelphia are in October and maybe late March. Unless you have a reason to be in Philly in the heart of winter.
Edmonton to Dallas, Texas is also available on similar dates. And similarly, October would be your best bet, with highs of 26C. Dallas ranges from 13C-16C in January and February.

Edmonton to New York City - $423 roundtrip after taxes - throughout schedule

UPDATE: September 9th - Take this blog post, and substitute the city of New York for Philadelphia (PHL) or Charlotte (CLT) on United. They've dropped their prices to those cities down to about $330 roundtrip after taxes, across the board, throughout 2011 and 2012.
