Air Canada is showing some pretty great prices on open-jaw flights between Edmonton, Hong Kong, and cities in China at the moment.
You can find some really interesting prices if you fly from Edmonton to Hong Kong, and then return home from Beijing, China.
The flight times are also very good, with 1-2 hour layovers in Vancouver each way. As fast as Edmonton - China can be done.

How to find and book these flights
1. Try this Google Flights search...
Google Flights: Edmonton to Hong Kong
Click on the departure date box to open up the calendar view and browse for cheap date combinations. Look for the dates that are $691 CAD roundtrip. It's ok if they change to $827.
2. Go to FlightHub
Click on 'Multi-City'
Search for a flight like this:
Edmonton to Hong Kong (HKG)
Beijing, China (PEK) to Edmonton
Use the same dates you found on Google Flights for the regular roundtrip flight to Hong Kong.
After you run your search on FlightHub, try selecting '1 Stop' only flights on the left hand side (you may need to scroll down a bit).
Your search should now show a 1-stop flight for $595 CAD roundtrip including taxes, like this one...

You can also find open-jaw flights from Edmonton to Shanghai, and then Beijing to Edmonton for $629 CAD roundtrip including taxes. Try similar dates.
Or just normal roundtrip flights from Edmonton to Shanghai or Beijing for $621 to $675 CAD roundtrip including taxes.
