Air Canada is promoting an 'Amazing Race' offer on flights from Edmonton to Beijing or Shanghai, China for $888 roundtrip after taxes.
While flights from Edmonton to China for under $900 are not unprecedented, there appears to be availability in every month of 2013/2014 all the way up to March 2014, which is rare.
The price applies to Air Canada's one-stop flights through Vancouver, which is as fast as you can get to China and back from Edmonton.
The cheap flights appear to be for travel on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.

But I've found that the 'green' dates showing on Air Canada's calendar indicating a cheap fare, sometimes no longer have the cheap fare. It may be easier to try searching for cheap dates one of the following ways...
1. Go to Google Flights Explorer
Use 'China' as your destination.
Change the 'Number Of Stops' to 'Up to 1 stop'.
Change 'Airlines' to 'Star Alliance'
2. Try a 3-day flexible date search on Kayak
The Air Canada page says that this fare will be available until July 30th.
