Edmonton to Canadian Cities for Spring, Summer, Fall Travel - $86 to $138 roundtrip after taxes
7
June
Domestic flight prices within Canada continue to shine, and cheap prices are available on dates throughout 2022.
It was not that long ago you would easily be paying a minimum of $500 roundtrip after taxes to fly from Western Canada to Ontario or Quebec or vice versa. Those same routes are now often available for a third of that price.
Back then you had two choices, WestJet or Air Canada. Then Air Transat started flying certain domestic routes, which helped with prices between major Canadian cities.
Flair entered the mix, starting with cheap flights from smaller Canadian airports, and gradually worked their way into the larger airports.
WestJet responded to this new upstart named Flair by creating Swoop to compete in the low cost carrier space.
And then there's Porter, who has been biding their time in Eastern Canada, but now appears poised to finally expand across Canada next year with their 80 new aircraft.
Not to mention Lynx Air, a new low cost carrier based out of Calgary.
And last, and perhaps deservedly least, is Jetlines who is claiming to finally be getting off the ground in 2022. (It should be noted that Jetlines has made similar claims for the last 5 or 6 years).
It's conceivable that Canada will soon have 4 or 5 airlines competing on some popular domestic routes.
Yes, many routes within Canada are still dominated by 1 or 2 airlines, keeping prices high on those routes (Air Canada and WestJet still operate about 80% of domestic flights). Most places with less than 200,000 people are still going to have expensive domestic flights and limited choices.
But I think to say that Canada's domestic market has a real lack of competition is no longer true like it once was.

Are there any promotions Edmonton to Regina Saskatchewan
Thank you
Darlene
Hi Darlene, I added Regina and Saskatoon to the bottom of the blog post for you.
Hello
Do you have anything for Edmonton to Winnipeg?
Thanks!
Appreciate all the info youi provide-greatly appreciated. Do you have any specials from Edmonton to Whitehorse,YT ? THX, Adele
Hi Marie, I've added Winnipeg to the blog post for you.
Adele: You may want to try Air North. June 10-15 for example is $322 roundtrip from YEG to YXY. Not amazing, but in the $300s roundtrip is about as low as they typically go on that route.
Thanks for the info Chris. Are there end dates on the prices?
Do you ever see great deals from Edmonton or Calgary to Kamloops? It seems like it is always to Kelowna. Seems like the round trip price is always around 350-400/person going to Kamloops, but going to Kelowna you can get a round trip price of around $100/person.
Cheers,
Rocky
Hi Rocky, it's entirely due to Flair operating flights between Calgary/Edmonton and Kelowna. This forces Air Canada, WestJet / Swoop (and now Lynx Air) to drop their prices on the same route to compete. It will take one of the low cost carriers adding Kamloops to their network to see the prices drop. Otherwise the Air Canada / WestJet duopoly continues unfortunately.
I was afraid you were going to say that. I guess Kamloops isn't much of a destination hot spot. Hopefully, though Flair or Lynx will pick this route up. Crossing my fingers, toes and anything else I can think of. It would make trips out to visit family much more affordable and quicker than driving through the mountains. Especially in the winters. It would make it safer as well.
Thank you for your website and the services you offer.
Cheers,
Rocky
I can't seem to find any of the noted deals on AC in summer.
They're all with WestJet at the moment. I do have separate links for 'WestJet and Air Canada' versus the low cost airlines (Flair, Swoop). But WestJet and Air Canada are lumped together in the same link.
Thanks for that. If I were a revenue manager at AC I wouldn't match Westjet given their horrific reputational damage they've recently taken. I also won't book Westjet at the moment....so holding pattern!
It's actually less about WestJet versus Air Canada and more about WestJet and Air Canada versus Flair (and soon, Lynx Air). Canada's duopoly needs to match prices on the routes that low-cost carrier Flair has added. As Canadians know from years gone by, when it's just WestJet and Air Canada on a route, summer prices don't ever budge. They have both resisted dropping their July and August prices (the highest demand months to fly in Canada) until recently.
