Air New Zealand has dropped the price of their flights from Edmonton to Rarotonga in the Cook Islands down to $796 CAD roundtrip including taxes.
Most trips have 1 stop each way, in Los Angeles. Other dates may have 2 stops.
This isn't as low as they've ever gone. Back in 2017, they dropped to $628 CAD roundtrip. But this is the lowest they've gone since that time.
I had the opportunity to visit the beautiful Cook Islands last year with that deal. Here's my Google map of things to do, see, eat, etc.
Rarotonga island might remind you of Hawaii, but with way less development. Probably what Hawaii looked like 40 years ago. I think the tallest structure I saw was 2 stories.
I learned that they get less than 10,000 visitors per year from North America! (Most are from New Zealand, about 10 times that amount).
You can drive the well paved road around the entire island in about an hour.
They use the New Zealand dollar, which is usually worth about the same as ours.

Are these flights only for short stays (1 week) or is it possible to do a more extended flight like 6 weeks?

For longer trips you can try mixing and matching the dates from different lines in the list of dates.
For example, the list shows:
Feb 1 to Feb 7, 14
Mar 7 to Mar 13, 20
So you could try Feb 1 to Mar 13 (which does work, just checked).
Any idea how long the seat sale is on for?

Technically, Air New Zealand says that this sale ends on May 20th at 11:59 PM.
In reality, with any airfare price drop, the prices on particular dates can become higher again at any time, if the demand is strong enough and seats sell out.
