Edmonton to Bangkok, Thailand - $657 to $747 CAD roundtrip including taxes

Bangkok, Thailand

United Airlines and ANA are showing some cheap flights from Edmonton to Bangkok, Thailand for $657 to $747 CAD roundtrip including taxes.

The best flights I've seen have 2 stops each way, usually in Denver and Tokyo, where the flight on the way there is operated by United between Denver and Tokyo, and operated by ANA on the way home, through Vancouver.

The flights have good layover lengths along the way (2.5 to 3 hours each).

Availability for travel

April 2018
September, October 2018

How to find and book this deal

1. Try this Google Flights search:

Google Flights: Edmonton to Bangkok, Thailand

Click on the departure date box to open up the calendar view and browse for cheap date combinations.

Try...

Apr 3 to Apr 17 -- $747, United both ways
Apr 3 to Apr 21 -- $747, United there, ANA coming home
Apr 10, 11 to Apr 21 -- $747, United there, ANA coming home

Sep 13 to Sep 27 -- $730, United there, ANA coming home, pick the one without the airport change
Sep 18 to Oct 4 -- $730, pick the $731 flights from the beginning

There may be more dates than this in September and October 2018 that will work. On a lot of the dates I've tried, the price often jumps up significantly from Google Flights once you click through to the booking site.

Or the flight has an airport change in Tokyo on the way home.

I've found it's usually best to try the flights that cost slightly more ($10 to $20), for the best chance of finding flights where the price actually verifies, and don't have an airport change on the way home.

The flights that are operated by United Airlines on the way there seem to be the best bet to try. The ones showing as operated by ANA on the way there don't usually work.

2. Select your flights and click through to the United Airlines website.

You can also turn these into 2-in-1 trips that allow you to spend time in both Thailand *and* Japan for $115 more ($862 CAD roundtrip). Doing it this way also helps break up the long journey, with good flights the entire way.

1. Try this Google Flights search:

Google Flights: Edmonton to Thailand, and then to Japan, and then home

Try using start and end dates from the list of regular roundtrip flights above.

Play around with the middle date to give yourself more or less time in Thailand vs Japan.

Update 11/26 - You can now find these flights from Edmonton to Bangkok, Thailand for as low as $657 CAD roundtrip including taxes!

1. Try this Google Flights search:

Google Flights: Edmonton to Bangkok, Thailand

Click on the departure date box to open up the calendar view and browse for cheap date combinations.

Look for the cheaper date combinations in September and October 2018. They are around $677 CAD roundtrip.

2. Go to Momondo

Search for a flight from Edmonton to Bangkok, Thailand (BKK)

Try the same dates you found on Google Flights.

Watch out for the ones with airport changes in Tokyo. Probably want to avoid those.

I've had the best luck with clicking through from Momondo to GoToGate. With some booking sites, the price isn't always verifying (such as FareBoom).

You can also turn these into 2-in-1 trips that allow you to spend time in both Thailand *and* Japan for $812 CAD roundtrip. Doing it this way also helps break up the long journey, with good flights the entire way.

1. Try this Google Flights search:

Google Flights: Edmonton to Thailand, and then to Japan, and then home

Try using start and end dates that are similar to the cheap dates you found for a regular roundtrip flight to Bangkok.

Play around with the middle date to give yourself more or less time in Thailand vs Japan.

NOTE: I've found that you need to select the United Airlines flight for your first flight, otherwise you may get to a dead end on Google Flights where the price doesn't actually show up.

For example, start by picking the third flight showing up on Google Flights, for the first leg of your journey. The one operated by United Airlines.

For the flight home, you can pick the one operated by ANA.

Update 12/16 - Flights from Edmonton to Bangkok, Thailand are back again today for $694 CAD roundtrip including taxes for travel in September and October 2018.

1. Try this Google Flights search:

Google Flights: Edmonton to Bangkok, Thailand

Click on the departure date box to open up the calendar view and browse for cheap date combinations.

Look for the dates that are $701 roundtrip. You may also see dates that are $677 roundtrip, but I've had better luck on Momondo with searching for the $701 dates.

2. Go to Momondo

Search for a flight from Edmonton to Bangkok, Thailand (BKK)

Try the same dates you found on Google Flights.

I've had the best luck with clicking through from Momondo to GoToGate. With some booking sites, the price isn't always verifying (such as FareBoom).

NOTE: After your Momondo search completes, slide the 'Max Flight Duration' slider on the left down to around 60. Otherwise you may see some slightly cheaper flights that are way longer.
