You would first fly from Edmonton to Tokyo, Japan (1 stop in Vancouver) and spend time there.
Then you would fly from Tokyo, Japan to Manila, Philippines (non-stop).
Then you would fly back from Manila, Philippines to Edmonton (2 stops, Tokyo and Vancouver).
You can also find regular roundtrip flights from Edmonton to just Manila, Philippines on ANA (without the extended stop in Japan) for $677 CAD roundtrip, which is a pretty amazing price for the Philippines, on one of the best airlines around.

Google Flights: Edmonton to Manila, Philippines
Click on the departure date box to open up the calendar view and browse for cheap date combinations.
Try dates in September, October, November, first half of December 2017.
Or January, February, and April 2018.
Look for the dates that are $692 CAD roundtrip.
2. Go to Momondo
Change the Trip Type to Return Trip if it isn't set already.
3. Search for a flight from Edmonton to Manila, Philippines (MNL)
Try the same dates you found on Google Flights.
NOTE: After your Momondo search completes, slide the 'Max Duration Slider' on the left down to around 51.
Otherwise, you may see some flights that are slightly cheaper, but have overnight layovers.
